A 2-month-old was safely returned to her mother after she was forcefully taken from her southwest Atlanta home early Monday morning.

Atlanta police are now looking for the baby’s non-custodial father, 24-year-old Travion Sheffield.

The child’s mother told police that Sheffield kicked in the door of her Hartford Drive home and took their 2-month-old daughter, police spokesman Officer Jarius Daugherty said.

Police were called to help look for the baby around midnight, but a search of the neighborhood came up empty.

“While still investigating the incident, a family member of the child’s father returned the child to the location, unharmed,” Daugherty said.

The incident is still under investigation.
