NEW DETAILS: 19-year-old woman shot while leaving downtown Atlanta nightclub

Police are searching for two men and a woman in the shooting.

A woman was shot early Thursday when an argument at a downtown nightclub spilled outside.

The 19-year-old woman was at the Harlem Nights Ultra Lounge on Courtland Street when she got into an argument with another woman and they eventually had to be separated, she told Atlanta police.

The woman and her boyfriend left the club just before 2:30 a.m., and while walking down the street, they were approached by a black pickup truck, police spokesman Officer Jarius Daugherty said.

Someone from the truck fired shots, and the 19-year-old was hit in the leg, he said. The pickup drove off.

When authorities arrived, the victim was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition.  Police expect her to be OK.

Investigators put out a description of the pickup truck and told officers to be on the lookout, Capt. Reginald Moorman told Channel 2 Action News.

“While they were in Midtown, the Zone 5 unit saw the vehicle,” he said from the scene. “... They attempted to pull over the vehicle. At that point, suspects threw a weapon out of the vehicle, a firearm, and then they proceeded toward Marietta Street.”

By the time pursuing officers found the truck again at Longley Avenue and West Marietta Street, it had been abandoned.

The truck and the tossed weapon were recovered by police, Moorman said. Investigators believe they are searching for a woman and two men.

Investigators are hoping surveillance video from the area will help to identify them, Channel 2 reported.
