Police are looking for a group of men who escaped in a stolen truck after they shot a woman in the mouth with a pellet gun while trying to snatch her purse outside a Sports Authority in Cobb County Monday night.

Police already were looking for the truck, which was stolen out of Atlanta, in connection with some car break-ins near the new Atlanta Braves baseball stadium, Cobb County police spokesman Sgt. Dana Pierce said. Police are now examining surveillance video from the area.

Those new details were released Tuesday following the robbery attempt at the Akers Mill shopping center.

The victim, a 37-year-old Atlanta woman whose name was not released, suffered non-life threatening injuries in the incident, which occurred just after 9 p.m., Pierce said.

According to Pierce, two or three men in a stolen black Ford F-150 pick up tried to grab the woman’s purse as she was walking out of the store on Akers Mill Road near I-75 and I-285.

The men did not get her purse, but they shot the woman and got away.
