Hapeville police said a quick response and teamwork among officers helped them capture four suspects Wednesday within minutes of a bank robbery.

The call came in to emergency dispatch just after 2 p.m. that an armed crew held up the Wells Fargo Bank branch on South Central Avenue. The first officers were sent out within 16 seconds, according to police.

Soon after, the chase was on for three robbery suspects and their getaway driver. Two officers already in the area, Lt. M. Bradberry and Sgt. B. Barnes, pulled behind the suspects’ vehicle, and its occupants bailed, police said.

Multiple Hapeville police officers and their counterparts in Atlanta and Forest Park, as well as a K-9 unit and a helicopter, joined in the search.

In the first 10 minutes, authorities had two suspects in custody. The third was found before a half-hour passed, and the last was in custody before the hour was up.

Officers also recovered the suspects’ vehicle, which had been reported stolen in a carjacking in Atlanta, a stolen Glock pistol and two additional handguns, according to police.

The four were identified as Omar Jamal Colbert, 18, Taurice D. Williamson, 18, and brothers Adrian Forrdill Bean, 19, and Adarian Latom Bean, 17.
