A former Hall County fire battallion chief has been arrested after he allegedly harassed and stalked county officials.

David McGehee, 52, is in the Hall County jail on $3,500 bond on charges of harass by phone and stalking, records show.

According to the arrest warrant, McGehee “did follow, contact, place under surveillance” three Hall County officials “repeatedly and without their consent for the purpose of harassing and intimidating them,” Hall County sheriff’s spokeswoman Nicole Bailes said.

Officials named in the warrants are Hall County Human Resources Director Bill Moats, public information officer Katie Crumley and county Administrator Randy Knighton, Bailes said.

McGehee allegedly “has repeatedly contacted Hall County administrators and personnel by means of email and phone calls during the time period of Oct. 12, 2015, through June 9,” Bailes said.

McGehee last served as a battalion chief with Hall County Fire Services in February 2013, when he was terminated after an alleged domestic violence incident, the Gainesville Times reported. McGehee denied the allegations. The Civil Service Board upheld McGehee's termination in 2014, the Times reported.

McGehee emailed county officials voicing his concern about decisions being made in the fire department and wanting to get his job back with the county, the Times reported.

The investigation is ongoing, Bailes said.
