Three people were in custody and police were still looking for two more suspects Friday after a Gwinnett County man was shot during a home invasion robbery.

The incident happened about 2:30 a.m. Friday at a home on Worchester Place near Lilburn, where the three male victims were roommates, Gwinnett police Cpl. Jake Smith said.

“What we think happened is one of these guys met these ladies out somewhere socially at a bar or restaurant and invited them back to the house,” Smith said. “When they showed up, they brought a whole crew with them, and it turned into a robbery.”

Smith said that when the five suspects — the two women and three men — arrived, “one of the men pulled out a gun, and they robbed the three victims inside the home.”

One of the victims was shot in the shoulder, but Smith said his wound was not believed to be life-threatening. A second victim sustained minor injuries when he was physically attacked.

“The third guy was actually able to escape out a window as the suspects were confronting the other two victims and was able to run across the street to a neighbor and contact police,” Smith said.

He said that the suspects, who also stole a vehicle from one of the victims, were gone when police arrived.

The suspects’ vehicle was stopped a short time later by DeKalb County police, and the two female suspects and one of the male suspects were taken into custody, Smith said.

Smith said early Friday afternoon that earlier information released by police about the stolen vehicle being recovered was incorrect, and that the stolen car has not been found.
