A man was convicted Thursday of rape and aggravated assault charges after he repeatedly tasered, raped and threatened to kill his ex-girlfriend’s friend, officials said.
Armed with a taser, a knife and a roll of packing tape, Austin Jacob Witte, 26, entered a bedroom and threw the victim against a wall, according to the Gwinnett County District Attorney’s Office.
Witte bound the victim, tasered her repeatedly and threatened to kill her. He took her into another room to rape her.
The victim had taser marks her chest, back and stomach and a bloody nose, according to the release. There were marks found on the victim’s wrist and neck.
Witte denied having any sexual contact with the victim when interviewed by police, going as far as submitting to a DNA test.
When police left Witte alone, he sniffed, licked and rubbed his hands on his pants in an attempt to rub off DNA evidence, according to the press release.
Police confronted and arrested Witte, who later claimed he and the victim had consensual sex, according to the release.
Witte was sentenced to life in prison, without parole, plus 10 years in confinement, followed by 20 years of probation.
