A probable cause hearing for two Snellville brothers accused of trying to kill their parents has been waived by the defendants.

Christopher, 22, and Cameron Ervin, 17, are each charged with two counts of felony aggravated assault along with two felony counts of first degree arson

Tom Clegg attorney for Christopher Ervin said he waived the hearing because of the extensive media coverage. "I don't want the specifics of these allegaiton to be repeated ad nauseam," he said.

Clegg conceded there was “more than sufficient evidence” for this case to move forward.

He added his client is “remarkably composed, thoughtful and pleasant. There is an incredible disconnect between the allegations and the individual I met. “

The case will now be sent to superior ocurt and presented to the grand jury. Clegg said he does not expect to seek bond for his client.

Gwinnett County District Attorney Danny Porter said the brothers cut a gas line last Saturday morning, drugged their parents with Xanax, placed a candle in their fireplace and waited outside two hours for an explosion that never happened.

Prosecutors say they returned inside, beat their mother, Yvonne Ervin, with a rifle and repeatedly stabbed their father, Zachary Ervin.

In interviews with investigators, both Christopher, 22, and Cameron, 17, hinted at a “bad home life,” Porter told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. But no such evidence has surfaced, according to the Gwinnett D.A.
