Even locked up in the glove box of a car, valuables may not be safe, police say.

Residents of Powder Springs found that out the hard way, when an SUV window was smashed so thieves could get at guns, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Paul Webb told the news station the last thing he and his wife expected was to come out of the house, where they should feel safe, and find they were robbed.

One of the weapons stolen from their SUV may have been used in another crime, Cobb County police spokeswoman Alicia Chilton said.

“I just can’t stress enough that people need to bring their valuables inside,” Chilton said. “If (guns) are locked up in the glove box, that’s still accessible to bad guys.”

June Bigby said a gun was stuck in her face out of nowhere by people who looked at first like school kids. After they asked for help and she said “I’m sorry, sir, I can’t help you,” the young man followed by pointing a gun at her.

“Your life flashes before your eyes,” Bigby told Channel 2. “You follow what they say; you just want to be alive.”

Bigby is thankful she wasn’t hurt and hopes the police find the people responsible for the thefts and damage to her neighborhood.

One suspect belonging to notorious robbery crew was caught after manhunt, but the second is still on the loose.
