A suspect in a hit-and-run involving a 15-year-old pedestrian is in custody, the Georgia State Patrol said.

Daryl Lenear Ogletree, 45, of Griffin, turned himself in at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the GSP post in Griffin, the agency said in a news release.

According to authorities, Ogletree hit Marquis Gunn on Northside Drive near Ridgeview Drive around 6:10 p.m. Dec. 19.

Gunn, who is also from Griffin, was walking east in the westbound lane with another person when a vehicle hit him without stopping, GSP previously told AJC.com. That stretch of the road does not have sidewalks.

Gunn was taken to WellStar Atlanta Medical Center with serious injuries and later released, the release said.

Ogletree is cooperating with the agency’s investigation and is currently in the Spalding County Jail.

He faces charges of leaving the scene of an accident and driving with a suspended license, the GSP said.
