A Gainesville woman was arrested after allegedly beating her 11-year-old daughter so severely that her eardrum ruptured, authorities said.
Amberlee Nicole Dowis, 29, was arrested Monday on charges of aggravated battery and family violence battery, Hall County sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Scott Ware said.
The girl was taken to the hospital by her grandparents and the injuries were reported to authorities following the doctor’s visit, Ware said.
Relatives took custody of the child, who is safe and recovering from her injuries, he said.
Dowis’ bond has not been set. She remains in the Hall County jail, records show.
The case remains under investigation.
