Federal authorities have arrested a former DeKalb County police officer indicted in a massive, multi-state racketeering investigation.

More than 30 other alleged gang members from metro Atlanta were arrested as well, according to Channel 2 Action News.

According to an unsealed, 85-count indictment obtained by Channel 2, the arrests were part of a federal investigation into the Gangster Disciples, a violent gang that began in Chicago in the 1970s.

U.S. Attorney John A. Horn is expected to discuss the indictments and the arrests during a news conference scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Richard B. Russell Federal Building in Atlanta.
