Some employees at a Family Dollar store in DeKalb County teamed up to try to “trap” a man who held up the store at gunpoint, Channel 2 Action News reported.

About 9 p.m. Monday, a man in a black hoodie and black hat pretended to buy something at the store on Gresham Road, surveillance video showed. But then he pulled a gun on the cashier when the register was open.

Then he grabbed the cash and tried to get away, the station reported.

But the employees noticed and tried to hold the door closed from the outside. However, the gunman was able to force the door open and escape, picking up his phone that he had dropped.

“I wouldn’t have held the door,” customer Loriana Ridley said a few days later after seeing the video. “I just feel like it’s not worth it, it’s not worth a life ... it’s monetary.”
