An employee at an East Point cellphone store was sexually assaulted during a Monday afternoon armed robbery, police said.
A day later, all three suspects in the case — including a woman — remained on the lam.
East Point police spokesman Capt. Cliff Chandler said two men entered the MetroPCS store at 3120 Washington Road shortly before 2 p.m. Monday. At least one of the men was armed, and he coerced a female employee into the rear of the store before forcing her to perform a sex act, Chandler said.
The men stole a “very large sum of money” before fleeing in a 2012 Ford Fusion driven by a female accomplice. Chandler said the getaway vehicle — which authorities believe the trio carjacked Sunday — has been recovered, but the suspects have not been identified or apprehended.
The store where the robbery occurred is located next door to an East Point police precinct, but Chandler said the location consists primarily of offices for the department’s community policing officer and is not manned 24 hours a day.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call 404-559-6287.
