Police say a Cumming man, after hitting two cars and speeding away from authorities, decided to hide the stolen car and himself in a family’s garage in a north Fulton County neighborhood.

Police dashcam footage obtained by Channel 2 Action News shows Patrick Phelan allegedly speeding away from police just before he hid the SUV on Tuesday in Sandy Springs.

Phelan crashed into two cars on Ga. 400 northbound near Northbridge Road, according to Channel 2, and kept driving when police tried to pull him over. He tried to hide the stolen, damaged vehicle at a home on Brook Green Road, the news station reported.

The homeowner, who was not identified, called 911 and described Phelan as “afraid” and possibly intoxicated.

“He's probably drunk,” the caller said. “He fell on the ground. My daughter ran out into the garage and came back in and said ... there's a truck that's squished.”

Phelan faces hit-and-run, loitering and prowling charges, Channel 2 reported. He also faces charges in Forsyth County.
