Detroit man accused of shooting Clark Atlanta student arrested in hometown

Months after a Clark Atlanta University student was shot in the stomach, Atlanta police arrested a man who fled to his hometown during the investigation.
Jabari Story-Stewart, 19, of Detroit, was booked into the Fulton County jail Monday on charges of aggravated battery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Story-Stewart had been on the run since the Dec. 1 shooting of 22-year-old Craig Burns.
The two had been in an altercation the day before, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported.
“Following the altercation, Burns returned to his room where the shooting occurred,” the university said in a statement.
The next day, Atlanta police responded to a Beckwith Street home and found Burns shot in the stomach.
"The bullet traveled to his organs and fractured his spinal cord," family said in a GoFundMe post. Burns is still recovering from the wound, Atlanta police Sgt. John Chafee told The AJC.
Story-Stewart has his first court appearance at 11 a.m. Wednesday.
