Union City police are investigating a shooting that left a man dead and one injured Tuesday evening, Channel 2 Action News reported.
According to police, two people were found shot outside Hidden Lake Apartments along the 4000 block of Morgan Road in Union City.
Police initially thought they were responding to a traffic incident, according to Channel 2, but later saw that a man who crashed his car had been shot multiple times.
A woman living near the apartment complex tried to help the victim.
“I just came outside, heard the gunshots and heard the crash,” Lindsey Cooley said. “It was a lot to take in, seeing him.”
The victim was taken to the hospital, but later died, Channel 2 reported. A second person was also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The victims’ names were not released.
Union City police said they are pursuing leads on a shooting suspect.
