Even though Gwinnett police learned several people may have witnessed a shooting that injured a 6-year-old boy riding his bike, investigators still have not made an arrest.

"Though this crime occurred on March 12," Cpl. Michele Pihera said Monday, "there are still no suspects in the case."

Nine days ago, someone approached Ni-Shawn Moore as he rode his bicycle in front of a home on Caboose Court and shot him in the chest.

In audio recordings of 911 calls released Monday, a resident at the property said she was hosting a backyard party and did not know anything about the shooting, which occurred about 6:18 p.m.

The woman said the child’s father and about six other men, one of them armed with a gun, threatened her after finding out the child had been shot.

“I don’t know these people,” she told the dispatcher. “They came over with a big group, and we’re having a party. And they’re saying somebody shot their kid, and they’re going to come back and handle it.”

In another 911 call, a dispatcher tried to walk a woman through techniques to apply pressure to Ni-Shawn’s wound. However, she said the child wouldn’t let anyone touch him because of the pain.

Police initially thought Ni-Shawn was shot with a BB gun, according to a police report.

It wasn’t until he was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center that a hospital staff member told police the boy was instead shot with a .22-caliber weapon, was in critical condition and needed to be flown to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston.

Ni-Shawn was discharged from Children’s Healthcare last week, Pihera said Monday.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Gwinnett police at 770-513-5300. Tipsters can also remain anonymous — and be eligible for rewards of up to $2,000 — by contacting Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS or crimestoppersatlanta.org.
