Police impersonator pulls over teen in Fayette County

July 30, 2018

A man is accused of impersonating an officer in Fayette County Thursday night by using flashing lights on his car to pull over a 17-year-old girl, authorities said.

The teen was pulled over about 11:30 p.m. at the intersection of West McIntosh Road and Grant Road by a dark-colored vehicle with two flashing blue lights, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post.

A man in his early 30s, dressed in dark gray or black workout clothes, approached her vehicle and attempted to start a conversation, according to the post.

She quickly realized by his appearance and comments that he was impersonating an officer and drove away. She reported the incident after she returned home, the sheriff’s office said. The teen was not harmed.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office at 770-461-6353.
