A woman was killed and her husband was hurt after their truck was struck by a Cobb County Transit bus Saturday, police said.

The crash happened on the East-West Connector at Mesa Valley Way in Austell shortly after 9 a.m., Cobb County police spokesman Sgt. Dana Pierce said in a news release Sunday.

While the Cobb County Selective Traffic Enforcement Program Unit continues to investigate, preliminary information shows the driver of a Chevrolet S-10 truck, later identified as 47-year-old Hugo Ramos of Marietta, ignored a traffic signal while heading east on the Connector.

His aunt, 53-year-old Josefina Ramos of Austell, was in the passenger seat.

Carlos Moring, 49, of Atlanta, was the driver of the CCT bus headed northbound on Mesa Valley Way at the time.

The Cobb County Transit bus struck the truck on its passenger side, Pierce said.

The Ramos couple was taken to a local hospital, where Josefina was pronounced dead. Hugo Ramos was being treated Sunday for non-life-threatening injuries.

Moring and a passenger were also treated at a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Charges are pending the investigation and anyone with information about it is asked to call (770) 499-3987.
