A man is without his car and his shoes and is facing charges after a chase on I-285 this week, DeKalb police say.

It seems that the suspect gave chase via vehicle after another man stole his shoes, DeKalb police spokesman Stephen Fore said in an email. The alleged shoe thief pulled over on I-285 near I-675, and the shoe owner got out of his car with a shotgun. The alleged shoe thief then ran into the woods, doubled back, and took the car of the man with the shotgun, Fore said.

Without shoes and car, the man then shot out the window of the abandoned vehicle that the other man had been driving.

The man with the shotgun then began walking down I-675, and observers called police. The man walking was Nathan Francis, 19, and he is charged with reckless conduct, Fore said.

The suspect’s vehicle, a 2013 Nissan Maxima, is still missing. It has a Georgia tag of CEC2868. The abandoned vehicle was impounded.

The investigation continues, Fore said.
