A 37-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting three women in a Georgia park was arrested Monday by Monroe police, Channel 2 Action News reported.
Deonte Branch of Monroe is accused of attacking two women within 24 hours at Felker Park, and police told Channel 2 he also likely assaulted a third woman. They all were jogging or walking in the park during morning or afternoon hours.
Branch was spotted roaming around the park Monday by a detective with the Walton County District Attorney’s Office, which led to his arrest, the news station reported.
“(The DA’s office) put her in running clothes, and she was walking the area, and she actually identified the suspect walking behind another female,” Monroe police Chief R.V. Watts told Channel 2.
Good Samaritans helped stop one of the alleged assaults Sunday around 6 p.m. after hearing a woman screaming for help, police said.
“The victim was allegedly forced to the ground and physically assaulted,” police said in a news release. “The attacker was scared away by witnesses coming to the victim's aid after hearing her screams for help.”
Police did not disclose the nature of the victim’s injuries.
Branch is expected to be charged with three counts of sexual battery, one count of criminal intent to commit rape, one count of aggravated sexual battery and one count of aggravated battery, Channel 2 reported.
