Former Braves catcher Johnny Estrada, 37, was arrested in Coweta County Thursday on domestic violence charges, according to the Newnan Times-Herald.

He was charged after Coweta County sheriff’s deputies visited a home in 100-block of Winged Foot Ridge Wednesday night, responding to complaints from Estrada’s wife Jennifer, who told deputies he made death threats against her, the Times-Herald said.

Estrada and his wife and three children moved to Coweta County after he left professional baseball in 2008. He opened a Me and Ed’s pizza franchise in Newnan in 2011 which closed last year, and was involved in coaching youth sports.

The switch-hitter played for the Braves in 2004 and 2005, and was an All Star in 2004. In 2005 during a Braves/Angels game Estrada was bowled over at the plate by Angels first baseman Darin Erstad.

Estrada said he suffered the effects of a concussion for some time afterward.
