Authorities found the remains of a Clayton County man — who had been reported missing last month — in a shallow grave in Alabama, according to multiple media reports.

The Jefferson County (Ala.) Sheriff's Office identified the remains as 49-year-old Shawn David Jackson on Friday, according to AL.com. He was reported missing from Clayton County on July 7.

Authorities received a 911 call Aug. 8 from a person claiming they found human remains about 30 yards off Shady Grove Road, the newspaper reported. The discovery happened in Adamsville, which is about 15 miles northwest of Birmingham.

When deputies arrived, they found partially buried human remains, and the coroner’s office was called to the scene, AL.com reported. Investigators from Jefferson County and Clayton County are working to determine Jackson’s cause and manner of death.

No other details have been released.
