In the aftermath of the massacre in Charleston in which nine black churchgoers were killed, someone has been distributing Ku Klux Klan fliers in Rockdale County.
The sheriff's office responded to several calls Sunday night about KKK fliers that were found in yards in a subdivision in south Rockdale County, according to a post on their Facebook page Monday.
Responding deputies met with local residents, who said they found fliers for a KKK group in North Carolina stuffed in clear plastic bags with candy.
“I find it very disturbing, especially in the wake of the tragedy in Charleston, that someone would distribute Ku Klux Klan propaganda in Rockdale County,” Sheriff Eric J. Levett in the post. “The residents that called to report this were understandably upset and I am too. The Ku Klux Klan is a known hate group and the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office is taking this very seriously. We will look into the origins of the fliers and determine if any criminal charges exist, and if so, we will pursue them.”
Anyone with information regarding the fliers is asked to contact the Rockdale Sheriff's Office at
