An escaped Meriwether County Jail inmate was captured Wednesday night, authorities said.

Travion Terrell Hall, 29, was one of two inmates who escaped from their cell block at about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Meriwether sheriff’s Chief Deputy Col. Byron Hadley said.

The jail is located about 70 miles southwest of Atlanta.

Hall, who was being held on a probation violation, was captured in a room at the Garden Inn & Suites in Hogansville, the Meriwether County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

Eugene Lamar Mitchell, 34, was still on the run Wednesday at 9:30 p.m.

Mitchell was being held on charges of incest, statutory rape, aggravated sexual battery, felony burglary, child molestation and aggravated child molestation, according to a Meriwether sheriff’s booking report.

Mitchell is 5-foot-10 and weighs 155 pounds.

Mitchell was last seen in the Rocky Mount area about 11 p.m. Tuesday, Hadley said. Mitchell changed out of the orange jump suit assigned to him in jail into different clothing while in the Rocky Mount vicinity, Hadley said.

Anyone who sees the inmate is asked to call 706-672-4489 immediately.
