A year after officials said a man carjacked a customer at a College Park gas station and led police on a high-speed chase, he was sentenced to 11 years and nine months in prison.

Dontrail Xavier Roundtree, 24, of Atlanta, pleaded guilty in November to the Jan. 26 carjacking and chase, U.S. Attorney John Horn said Monday.

“Roundtree victimized an innocent citizen and placed the lives of other citizens and police officers in danger when he led police on a high-speed chase,” Horn said. “The public can rest easier knowing that law enforcement put an end to Roundtree’s crime spree.”

Authorities said Roundtree pulled a .45-caliber semiautomatic pistol on the customer, demanded the person’s keys and sped away.

A witness called 911, Horn said, and College Park police found Roundtree and attempted to pull him over.

Roundtree instead led officers on a nearly 130-mph chase on I-285, which ended in him crashing the stolen car in a ditch. Roundtree tried to run but was arrested on a charge of theft by receiving stolen property.

Horn said Roundtree fought with officers, kicking one as authorities tried to place him in custody.

After his prison stint, Roundtree will be under five years of supervised release, officials said.
