Police have linked two recent daytime armed robberies of Athens pharmacies to pain pills, according to a media report.
A pharmacy on South Milledge Avenue was robbed on Monday, the Athens Banner-Herald reported. Another robbery was at a pharmacy on Prince Avenue on April 15.
In both robberies, one suspect held victims at bay with a handgun, while the other went behind the counter to steal prescription pain pills, the paper reported.
The suspects sought only generic and name-brand forms of oxycodone, pain medication for which there is a huge black market, according to the report.
A reward has been offered for information leading to arrests and convictions in the cases.
