Police have arrested a man in a fatal shooting earlier this month at Underground Atlanta.
Mathew Nicholas Copeland, 25, was taken into police custody early Tuesday morning on charges of murder in the Dec. 11 death of Carlos Antonio Glenn, authorities said.
Copeland is being held without bond at the Fulton County Jail, according to jail records.
Officers conducting a routine traffic stop on Tuesday initially cited and arrested Copeland for driving with his tail light out and with a suspended license, according to authorities.
Upon further investigation, however, investigators were able to link Copeland to the shooting, police spokeswoman Kim Jones said.
Police say Copeland was in an argument with Glenn, 24, just before the shooting at the 50 Lower Alabama Street location.
In addition to murder, Copeland was charged with driving without a license, providing false information to police, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
He has spent two terms in state prison for drug and hit-and-run charges in Fulton County and for possession of a stolen vehicle and eluding police in Cobb County, according to court and jail records.
Copeland was also arrested in 2009 for battery in Fulton, but was released weeks later on $1,500 bond, jail records show.
Copeland had been released from the Coffee Correctional Facility in September on parole, according to jail records.
He was arraigned Tuesday before a Fulton County Magistrate Judge at the jail and will appear in court again on Jan. 2, jail officials said.
