The San Francisco 49ers released backup tight end Bruce Miller, a Woodstock High graduate, after his arrest on elder abuse and aggravated assault charges Monday, according to a media report.

Just before 3 a.m., police responded to reports of an intoxicated man who tried to enter a hotel room that wasn’t his, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

A 70-year-old man answered the door and his 29-year-old son, who was staying in the next room, heard the incident and told Miller he’d made a mistake, according to the Chronicle.

Miller, 29, attacked the son, and the father came to his son’s aid, the newspaper reported. Both were taken to a hospital for treatment.

In addition to elder abuse and aggravated assault, Miller was charged with threats and battery.

Miller was an all-county and all-region player at Woodstock High and a Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year at the University of Central Florida.
