A man was killed Saturday after running a red light and hitting a MARTA bus, DeKalb County police said.

According to the initial investigation, the driver of a Toyota Camry blew through the light after taking the Candler Road exit from I-20 East about 6 a.m. The Camry struck the front of the MARTA bus, sending the car across the intersection and into a guardrail, DeKalb police spokeswoman Officer Elise Wells said. The MARTA bus hit the guardrail on the east side of the Candler Road overpass.

The driver of the Camry died at the scene, Wells said. Police on Monday identified him as 41-year-old Darrell London.

The MARTA bus driver was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. No passengers were hurt, according to police.

The investigation shut down Candler Road at I-20 for about three hours, the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center reported. Lanes started reopening after 9 a.m.
