A couple accused of a leaving a 5-year-old boy alone in a cold car while they tried to buy drugs remained in the Gwinnett County jail Wednesday.
Bryan Gregory Fossier, 31, and Boni Lee Hutchison, 27, were arrested Sunday night and charged with second degree cruelty to children after the boy was found alone at the Sun Suites of Suwanee, according to police. A hotel guest found the child wandering on the third floor and employees called police, who then called Hutchison, the boy’s mother.
“Don’t ever leave me by myself again,” the boy told his mother, according to police. “You’re a monster.”
Hutchison told police that Fossier, her husband of five months, had just been released from prison and the couple and her child had driven from Gainesville to buy marijuana at the hotel, according to an incident report from Suwanee police. Hutchison and Fossier brought a laptop along to swap for the drugs, but the transaction never happened and no drugs were found, police said.
The occupants of the room where the couple was found told police the couple had been in the room for about 30 minutes, but Hutchison estimated the time to be between 10 and 15 minutes, according to police.
It was about 30 degrees when police were called to the hotel, shortly before 11 p.m. Sunday. The child, who has Asperger’s Syndrome, was wearing an unbuttoned and unzipped wool coat, a thin flannel shirt, jeans, and tennis shoes without socks, according to police. He was released Sunday night to his grandmother.
Hutchison and Fossier were being held Wednesday in lieu of $4,050 bond.
