Construction worker killed in Rockdale County wreck

A construction worker died Saturday night in Rockdale County after being trapped underneath a dump truck.

Authorities said the man was killed when a dump truck backed eastbound into westbound lanes, along with other equipment. The victim, whose name has not been released pending notification of his family, was struck as he walked behind the truck, trapping him underneath the vehicle.

A spokesperson with the Georgia State Police said the man was pronounced dead on scene and that no drugs or alcohol are believed to be a factor in the wreck.
