College Park police are investigating the suspicious death of a 40-year-old woman whose body was found inside her Godby Road apartment Sunday morning.
“We are interviewing witnesses and have developed multiple leads,” Master Sgt. Jeff Hightower said in an email.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office Monday identified the woman as Deshandra Ragland.
Family members told Channel 2 Action News that the victim was found with a dog leash tied around her neck.
Ragland’s sister told Channel 2 that her brother found their sister dead inside her apartment at the Alexandria Landing complex in the 2100 block of Godby Road.
She said her sister was a sickle cell patient and that a medical port in her chest had been cut out.
Oteria Fambro was with the victim’s brother when he found his sister, and told Channel 2 that it was a bloody and gruesome scene and that her neighbor apparently fought for her life.
“She was trying to get away because there was blood on the phone and stuff like she was trying to call 911,” Fambro said.
An autopsy was underway late Monday to determine how Ragland died.
