The Cobb County School District recorded more than 650 active cases of COVID-19 in its latest data report.

For the week ending Sept. 10, the district reported 362 cases in elementary schools, 143 in high schools and 128 in middle schools. The district also recorded another 25 cases — likely at other facilities — for a total of 658.

Since the beginning of the school year, the district recorded its highest counts in elementary schools, with nearly 2,100 COVID-19 cases documented out of a total of 4,268 districtwide.

Children under age 12 are not eligible for vaccines.

Cobb schools enroll about 107,000 students. Masks are optional.
