Cobb Horticulture Awareness Week has free events July 27-Aug. 1
The University of Georgia Cobb County Extension Service will hold an array of free events Monday through Aug. 1 in recognition of Cobb Horticulture Awareness Week.
Classes include "Supporting Our Pollinators," noon to 1 p.m. Monday, "Dahlias!," noon to 1 p.m. July 29 and "Planning the Fall Vegetable Garden," noon to 1 p.m. July 31.
All of these classes will be at the Cobb Water Training Lab, 662 South Cobb Drive, Marietta.
The finale will be Family Fun Day, starting off with the 8 a.m. tour Saturday of the Blue Bird Habitat Trail at Green Meadows Preserve, 3780 Dallas Highway, Powder Springs.
More activities and outdoor classes will begin at 10 a.m. with Cobb District One Commissioner Bob Weatherford present from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Those attending may visit the community garden, orchard, period garden, Cherokee garden and bee hives.
Samples of edible insects will be available along with a corn roast, watermelon stand and food trucks.
The UGA Cobb Extension office is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays to Fridays on the second floor, 678 South Cobb Drive, Marietta to pick up research-based information about lawn, garden and landscape care and learn about conservation of natural resources.
