Cobb County Schools has called off school for the day in the face of some snow and ice accumulation.

The system started the morning with opening at a regular time, but called for a two-hour delay before 7 a.m. At about 8:45 a.m., the system decided to close schools for the day.

The same was true for Marietta city elementary schools, which called for closing before 9 a.m. The middle and high school will continue on a normal schedule, as of 9:15 a.m.

Cobb’s system uses about 30 designated drivers to get out as early as 4 a.m. and check out roads around the county. After getting reports, the system makes a decision whether to open or close.
