Clarkston police have a new K-9.

Clarkston swore in its newest — and furriest — officer this week, and the department is asking the public to help name her.

The K-9 officer was sworn in Monday by Clarkston police Chief Christine Hudson, and the department is holding a public poll to finalize the police dog’s name. The department narrowed it down to two options: Clarke and Donut.

Anyone who wants to vote can let the department know on its Facebook page either by leaving a comment or messaging the department through Facebook Messenger. The votes will be tallied Wednesday.

The K-9 will make her first appearance Tuesday evening at Clarkston’s National Night Out event, an initiative that promotes relationships between police departments and the neighborhoods they patrol. It will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. at Milam Park, located at 3867 Norman Road.
