In an emotional social media post, model Chrissy Teigen revealed that she and her husband John Legend lost their baby after she faced excessive bleeding most of this week.

Teigen announced around midnight Thursday that she and Legend had lost their baby boy, who they had already named Jack. The 34-year-old said she was about halfway through her pregnancy.

“To our Jack,” she wrote. “I’m so sorry that the first few moments of your life were met with so many complications, that we couldn’t give you the home you needed to survive. We will always love you.”

On Sunday night, she posted about experiencing pregnancy complications, including excessive bleeding. In the past, the 34-year-old explained that her weak placenta led to early labor with her daughter Luna, 4, and son Miles, 2. She said the bleeding was much heavier than spotting, which many pregnant women experience.

Though the heavy bleeding had been ongoing, Teigen said she was hospitalized since the bleeding had begun to be more like if “you were to turn a faucet onto low and leave it there.”

“It’s so weird because I feel really good,” Chrissy shared. “I’m usually at my happiest pregnant, mood-wise"

Several fans showed support to Teigen and Legend on Twitter throughout the week. Some fellow moms also shared some solidarity by showing images of their babies and the similar pregnancy woes they experienced.

By Thursday, the fans and supporters expressed heartbreak and praised Teigen’s openness and courage for letting the world know about her miscarriage.

Legend shared a brief tribute to his son. Several of the couple’s celebrity friends also showed support.
