Brookhaven detectives have arrested an armed robbery suspect who they say might be tied to other robberies in DeKalb and Gwinnett counties, police announced Thursday

Detectives arrested Dale Hawkins, 21, of Lilburn, Tuesday on charges or sticking up a Chevron gas station located at 2289 N. Druid Hills Road.

“During the course of the investigation, detectives were able to connect Hawkins to an armed robbery of a Shell gas station in unincorporated DeKalb County and a Lilburn Wells Fargo Bank,” said Maj. Brandon Gurley of Brookhaven police.

Detectives linked Hawkins to a vehicle used in the gas station robberies, Gurley said. Later they were able to tie him to the bank robbery in Gwinnett County because he “matched the description” of the bandit, Gurley said.

Officers from from Brookhaven, Lilburn and DeKalb police departments arrested Hawkins at his Lilburn residence, Gurley said. Hawkins is in the Gwinnett County jail.
