A 77-year-old woman died in a two-car accident near Athens on Wednesday afternoon, the Georgia State Patrol confirmed.

Linda Nell Rasch of Athens was killed after she failed to yield to northbound traffic on U.S. 441 and her car was T-boned by another vehicle, the GSP told AJC.com.

Rasch, driving a 2003 Nissan Altima, was traveling west when her vehicle was hit by a 2007 Dodge Dakota. The Altima was pushed onto the median and struck a U-turn sign before coming to a stop.

Rasch was fatally injured, but the GSP did not say whether she died at the scene or en route to a hospital.

The driver of the Dakota was taken to Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital, the GSP said. Her injuries and condition were not provided.
