Six-woman, six-man jury selected for Ross Harris trial

After questioning 280 Glynn County residents over nine days, attorneys in the Justin Ross Harris case settled on 12 jurors and four alternates Monday as the hot car death trial finally got underway.

It's been nearly 28 months since Harris was arrested for allegedly leaving his 22-month-old son Cooper inside a hot SUV to die. The defense said it was unintentional.

The six-woman, six-man jury includes a nutritionist, mechanic, a former jury foreperson, a grandmother of six whose policemen father was killed in the line of duty, two nurses and a 19-year-old college student.

Opening statements are scheduled for around 1 p.m. following a lunch break. Superior Court Judge Mary Staley Clark will also rule on a defense motion to limit the testimony of a prostitute who, Harris’ attorneys claim, identified him as a client only after being threatened with jail time.
