Newnan man arrested on child molestation charges
A Newnan man is behind bars after officials accused him of sexually assaulting a child.
Joseph Anthony Spencer Sr., 49, was arrested Tuesday following a weekslong investigation, the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office confirmed.
The sheriff’s office said it began looking into Spencer after hearing from a family member of the victim. Investigators said the victim had been to Spencer’s Belk Road home several times.
Spencer was charged with child molestation and aggravated child molestation, officials said. He was taken to the Coweta County Jail, where he remains with no bond.
No other information on the investigation was released.
