A 16-year-old was injured Tuesday night in an officer-involved shooting near Clayton County, Atlanta police spokesman Officer Lukasz Sajdak said.

The teenager was one of two carjacking suspects Atlanta police were chasing on the 3000 block of Continental Colony Parkway in southwest Atlanta before the shooting, Sajdak said.

The suspects crashed into a pole near I-285 westbound at Clark Howell Highway, Sajdak said. Officers chased the suspects as they ran from the scene before shooting the 16-year-old in the leg.

Sajdak said the teen was alert, conscious and breathing. Police have not yet said why officers shot the teen.

One of the officers suffered minor cramps from the chase but was treated on scene by Clayton County emergency services, Sajdak said.

Police arrested the second robbery suspect.

The GBI was called to the scene to investigate. No other details were released.
