A Cobb County man was sentenced to life in prison after being convicted on his sixth felony, authorities said.

Calvin Bernard Hill, 36, was found guilty of armed robbery, theft by taking, burglary and kidnapping, according to a statement from Cobb County District Attorney Vic Reynolds' office.

Court officials said Hill put a gun to the head of a man arriving home at his Wood Hollow Drive house on Feb. 29, 2012, and forced his way into the man's home.

Hill tied up his victim in the bathroom and burglarized the home, according to the DA.

During the trial, prosecutors said the victim testified that Hill returned to the bathroom and held the gun to the man's body.

Hill has four prior felony convictions in Fulton County and one in Houston County, authorities said.

"The state gives an opportunity for second chances," said Cobb Assistant DA Theresa Schiefer. "But we're here now on number six."

Prosecutors offered Hill a plea deal that would have resulted in an opportunity for parole, DA's officials said.

"But I guess Mr. Hill's pride got in the way," Schiefer said.
