One person was killed and two children were injured after a wreck between a pickup truck and a tractor-trailer in the city of South Fulton.

Laurisa Aguirre, 25, of Atlanta, died when her truck hit the back of the tractor-trailer about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, officials told AJC.com.

The tractor-trailer was traveling west on Campbellton Road and had stopped for a red light at the intersection of Fulton Industrial Boulevard about 9:30 a.m., according to South Fulton police spokesman Lt. Derrick Rogers.

As Aguirre approached the intersection, she failed to stop and ran into the back of the tractor-trailer, Rogers said. She was pronounced dead on the scene. Two small children in the vehicle were taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, Rogers said.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured in the wreck.

All lanes were blocked for hours while authorities investigated. Lanes reopened just after 1:30 p.m., according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.
