After a crash involving a tractor-trailer, multiple lanes were blocked on I-75 South during the lunchtime drive.

Two people were injured in a five-vehicle crash that shut down multiple lanes on I-75 South during the lunchtime drive, Atlanta police said.

About 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, a Honda CRV stopped on the interstate and a tractor-trailer swerved to avoid hitting it, Atlanta police Office Lisa Bender told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

However, the tractor-trailer ended up striking the CRV and three other cars near West Paces Ferry Road, according to Bender.

The driver of the CRV was taken to a hospital with head and leg injuries, Bender said. Another driver was taken to the hospital with leg injuries.

Detectives are still investigating the wreck.

The scene cleared just before 2 p.m., but heavy delays remain in both directions of the interstate, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.

Drivers were urged to use alternate routes.
