Days after a University of Georgia student was assaulted at her home in broad daylight, police in Athens believe they know what her attacker looks like.

Authorities released a sketch and photos depicting the man they are considering a “person of interest” in the case. The sketch, which was drawn by a GBI forensic artist, shows a man with a beard and mustache wearing an do-rag and a chain with a cross.

The invasion occurred Saturday in the 100 block of Cloverhurst Avenue, according to Athens-Clarke County police spokesman Lt. John Radford.

The 21-year-old victim told police she arrived home at 2 p.m. When she went inside, a man came in behind her and attacked her, Radford said.

“The assault caused her to lose consciousness,” Radford said. “When she awoke, the attacker was gone.”

Radford said the person depicted in the sketch was seen in the area prior to the assault.
