The Mega Millions jackpot jumped from $900 million to $970 million Thursday, setting yet another record for the lottery prize, the Georgia Lottery said.

The jackpot has rolled over 25 times since July 27.

The previous jackpot of $900 million was the largest in the game’s history and the second-largest jackpot in U.S. history.

The next Mega Millions drawing is Friday night.

The Powerball jackpot also rose, with a new prize of $430 million. It has rolled over 19 times since Aug. 15.

No one matched all six winning numbers in Wednesday night’s drawing: 3, 64, 69, 68 and 57, with the Powerball being 15.

It was previously at $868 million after no one matched the winning numbers on Tuesday night.

In 2022, Georgia Power projected its winter peak electricity demand would grow by about 400 megawatts by 2031. Since then, Georgia has experienced a boom of data centers, which require a large load of electricty to run, and Georgia Power's recent forecast shows peak demand growing by 20 times the 400-megawatt estimate from just three years ago.
