Families were evacuated from a DeKalb County hotel Monday morning after a fire broke out inside the building, officials said.

Crews responded to the blaze at the Red Roof Inn on Fairington and Panola roads near Lithonia, DeKalb fire spokesman Capt. Dion Bentley told AJC.com.

Firefighters were sent to the hotel about 6 a.m., he said. The fire, which broke out on the third floor, started between the walls of two rooms and the attic, officials said.
